Fox Run Golf Course
Founded in 1984 on the land of the old Palisades Golf Course, Fox Run Golf Course is a public golf course located in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania. Owner and Founder Max Mesing, with the help of family, notably his brother Bill, grew Fox Run into a much-loved and renowned course that constantly held events, tournaments, and outings.
Max managed the club for well over thirty years. During this time, his own game greatly improved, winning several tournaments between 1989 and 1999, even going on to qualify for the US Senior Open.
The Mesings continued to manage the course until 2024, when they sold Fox Run to another local family – Glenn, Matt, Kent, and Ryan Stroupe.

Max Mesing
Fox Run’s owner and Director of Golf 1984-2018.
Max Mesing’s love for golf began in Moon Township at age 7 when he walked to the neighboring Scally’s Golf Center. Chuck Scally, Sr., who competed in 13 U.S. Open Championships and 7 PGA Championships, began mentoring Max. Mesing then played for both Moon Area High School and Robert Morris College teams.
After serving in the Navy during the Vietnam War, Max pursued golf as a career. He competed in various tours and in the mid-‘70s became club professional at Swallow Golf and Country Club in DeBary, Florida and then worked as club professional at the first exclusive Palm Coast Golf Community in Florida. Later, he returned to western PA.
In 1984 Max bought the rundown Palisades Golf Course, renamed it Fox Run, and turned it into “the country club look with public course prices.” In 1990 he bought Stonecrest in New Beaver.
As a local player, Max won several tournaments, including the West Penn Open (1989), the Tri-State Section PGA Senior Championship (1999), and qualified for and played in the 1999 US Senior Open.
He was named Tri-State Golf Professional of the Year (1993), Beaver County Sports Hall of Fame member, and was inducted into the Tri-State PGA Hall of Fame.
